Get Involved in PUC Proceedings

First things first; familiarize yourself with the Public Utilities Commission's (PUC) process. The more you know about how the regulatory system works, the more you can use it to your advantage and participate effectively. Education can be a very strong tool!

There are a number of options for you to get involved in the PUC process, but first you must determine the most appropriate course of action.

Things to Consider

  • Consider the list of factors to consider listed in the PUC Process FYI Publication Solving Problems to pinpoint your actual concern or issue.

  • The PUC has special rules in place that you must follow in order to formally get involved, but you do have the opportunity to work informally, mediate, or formally file a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission Consumer Affairs section to possibly resolve your problem or issue.

  • File comments in a proceeding that will go on the record and will be considered and reviewed by the PUC.  You may submit written testimony or oral comments at public hearings on formal proceedings.

  • Participate in a proceeding before the PUC by filing a petition to intervene.
